Regional Senior Managers' Course on ERW and Mine Action 2017, Croatia, 20 March - 7 April 2017
Confirmation of excellent cooperation between American and Croatian partners.
The Centre for International Stabilization and Recovery – CISR in collaboration with the College of Businesss at James Madison University has been carrying out training programs for managers in mine action system for several years already. „The Regional course for senior managers' in mine action and the removal of explosive remnants of war“ integrates the latest achievements in the field of business management with practical knowledge and experience of workers in the mine action and removing of the explosive remnants of war (ERW). The ultimate goal of this program is to create conditions for the managerial segment in national mine action systems to master the additional skills needed for more successful and efficient work, that is operating their systems.
The Senior Managers' Course – SMC was founded in 2004 when the UNDP approved contract to the CISR for the implementation of specialized training in the field of mine action and disposal of the ERW. So far, ten courses have been organized around the world and passed by almost 250 senior managers from 41 countries. Since 2010, the US Department of State took over the financing of the SMC, thus expanding the program with the subjects like the destroying surplus of conventional weapons, the control of small arms and light weapons and other security challenges in the context of the post-conflict recovery.
Of these ten held courses, two of them have been regional so far – 2014 in Tajikistan for the Central Asia and 2015 in Vietnam for the South East Asia.
CISR's partners in the organization of the SMC in 2017 are the Government Office for Mine Action, the Croatian Mine Action Centre and the Centre for Testing, Development and Training Ltd., and the course will be held in Biograd na Moru. Experts are invited from the following countries: Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Montenegro, Georgia, Croatia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Moldova, Serbia, Turkey and Ukraine.
For the Croatian mine action system and all its stakeholders, the cooperation with the renowned American partners and the organization of such an important training program in the Republic of Croatia is a further confirmation of our quality and rightful place in the international framework.
